Welcome: Myia Rucker

Myia is a recent graduate from The Ohio State University where she earned her Master’s in Social Work. Myia has worked in the non-profit sector since 2012 gaining experience in youth development and advocacy, prioritizing the needs and sovereignty of families of color.

Over the course of her career, she has designed, managed, and implemented large-scale campaigns and programs centered on social justice, community outreach, and resource distribution.

As a Columbus native, Myia’s passion for the city has led her to seek opportunities to positively impact her community by servicing underrepresented and vulnerable communities. She is enthusiastic about expanding self-determination for Black womxn and femmes by prioritizing wellness and healing through the application of trauma-informed care practices. She is a former treatment advocate in the short-term shelter care system in Franklin County and is a two-time Americorps member.

During her extent of national service, Myia served as a student success coach working to decrease the knowledge gap for middle school students on the East Side of Columbus. Myia is grateful to continue her passion for advocacy, communal care, and organizing at Ohio Women’s Alliance as the new Organizer of Social Impact. Myia takes great pride in serving her community and working towards a more just, ethical, and inclusive world.

When she is not keeping busy collaborating for social justice, Myia enjoys reading, painting, traveling, and volunteering. We are so excited to have her join our team!
