The Ohio Women’s Alliance Action Fund

Origin Story

Now more than ever, we must all do our part to create racially equitable communities, policies, opportunities, and systems with conditions and demands built by those who are most impacted so that all people can thrive.

In 2019, Ohio Women’s Alliance was founded as a power-building Reproductive Justice organization providing programming, resources, and education for women, gender-expansive people, and youth throughout Ohio. Rooted in the foundations of Reproductive Justice, OWA’s mission is to transform Ohio into a state where all people can truly thrive through access to safe communities, equitable education, holistic health care and wellness, inclusive and representative democracy, and economic prosperity.

To expand this important work, in 2020, we announced our new voter engagement entity, the Ohio Women’s Alliance Action Fund.

Through this 501(c)(4) organization, our OWA members have leveled up their civic engagement participation by expanding the electorate to be more inclusive of Black women and women of color.

The purpose of the Ohio Women's Alliance Action Fund is to build capacity for women and gender-expansive people of color—particularly Black women—to determine the lives we want for ourselves, our families, and our communities through the electoral process. The OWA Action Fund creates a more sustainable movement through voter protection and education, civic engagement, and the endorsement of candidates that align with Reproductive Justice values.
